Show packs so much into a single day

Where: Batsford Estate, Moreton-in-Marsh
When: Saturday, September 1
Moreton Show is a real agricultural show, with more than 2,000 animals and 350 trade stands selling everything from a pair of Wellington boots to a top-of-the-range combine harvester.
But there is so much more for all the family and there are not many shows that pack as much into a single day.
At Moreton Show, there is always a surprise or two as well. This year, you can hug a hen and there is even pig agility.
It's probably the biggest one-day agricultural show in the country and livestock are invariably the stars, from the majestic Poll Hereford cattle to the cutest lambs and adorable goats.
There's also some of the country's top horses in five equestrian rings, aiming to qualify for the Horse of the Year Show.
The quality of the competition attracts the very best and this year the judges include the Olympic dressage gold medallist Carl Hester.
The dare-devil stunt rider, Matt Coulter - aka the Kangaroo Kid, from Australia's Gold Coast - tops the bill in the Grand Arena.
Away from the thrills and spills, there are more gentle pursuits in Farmtastic - a celebration of rural and farming life. Here there is hedge-laying, sausage making, rare breeds and a mini-farm.
Children will love Tractor Ted, the Mole Show and the circus skills while adults can indulge themselves in the Cotswold Food Market with its local cakes, pies, beers and wines.
The dog show is great fun and the finest fruit and vegetables can be found in the Home & Garden marquee. There's even a Spitfire flypast courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
All the details and tickets are at www.moretonshow.co.uk and there are massive savings on tickets bought before show day.
