Popular author to visit young adult book club

A young adult book club based in Gloucester is looking forward to welcoming a special guest next month.

The Waterstones Gloucester Young Adult Book Club meets at the Eastgate Street bookshop every other Sunday from 2pm-3pm.

On Sunday, November 13, author Tracy Darnton - who has written "Ready or Not", "The Rules" and "The Truth About Lies" - will be paying the club a visit.

Bethany Winter, reporter for www.Punchline-Gloucester.com  and host of Waterstones Gloucester Young Adults Book Club said: "We discuss primarily teen and YA books, but also any genre that appeals to our members, as well as film and TV adaptations.

"Regular attendees have a wide range of interests from fantasy and romance to horror and sci-fi.

"We are really excited to welcome back Tracy Darnton and discuss her latest book Ready or Not, which features some thought-provoking talking points and book club questions."

Bethany added: "I took my copy with me to Cornwall this summer, which is where the book is set. Family and friends visit their holiday home, playing games like 'Hide and Seek' but the teenagers of the group are also growing up and drifting apart as they develop their own interests and identity with a shocking twist.

"Tracy's books are not just coming of age teenage stories, she also explores deeper topics. For example, Jess in The Truth About Lies battles her impressive memory, oppressive control, and grief. There is a lot more going on beneath the surface than initially appears."

The book club has also partnered up with a local business owner Kim's Cupcakes & Bakes  who will be making some bespoke cupcakes for the event.
