Open-air cinema pops up at Cowley Manor

Where: Cowley Manor, Cowley, near Cheltenham

When: August 3 to September 6, 2017

A season of classic summer movies is being brought to Cowley Manor, near Cheltenham, by The Alfresco Film Company.

Film fans can enjoy Moulin Rouge! (12A) on August 3, Romeo and Juliet (12A) on August 12, Mamma Mia! (PG) on August 26 and Pretty Woman (15) on September 6.

Tomorrow's screening of Breakfast at Tiffany's has been cancelled due to bad weather.

Cinema-goers can expect to enjoy the films in high definition on a giant, 8m-wide screen, with crystal clear cinema sound and food and drink served by regional producers, with outdoor recliner beanbags and deckchairs with blankets and popcorn for premium ticket-holders.

Gloucester-based The Alfresco Film Company recently held three nights of films at the Forestry Commission's Beechenhurst site in the Forest of Dean.

Promoter Andrew Mitchell-Stead said: "We're currently looking at a whole range of interesting and exciting venues to be paired with great films from all genres, as well as themed events featuring live music, performers and all kinds of surprises, which will take the pop-up cinema format to the next level in the region."

Tickets to the films at Cowley Manor cost £14 for standard entry. Bring your own camping chairs and picnic rugs. Film times vary.
