Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock to join PP Arnold for Stroud gig

Where: The Sub Rooms, George Street, Stroud GL5 1AE

When: Friday, October 4, 8pm

Iconic soul songstress PP Arnold will be joined by Ocean Colour Scene guitarist Steve Cradock when she performs at The Sub Rooms in Stroud in October.

The soul singer, who began her career as a member of Ike and Tina Turner's backing band The Ikettes, has announced that Cradock, who also plays guitar with Paul Weller's band, will be joining her for the much anticipated gig.

'First Lady of Soul' PP Arnold is set to perform an unmissable night of powerful soul classics from her solo career including The First Cut is the Deepest, Angel of the Morning and Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow at The Sub Rooms.

Having started her career in California in the 1960s as a backing singer for Ike and Tina Turner, Arnold struck up a friendship with Mick Jagger while on tour with the Rolling Stones - which saw him convince her to start her own solo career.

Her bold move paid off, and over an incredible five-decade career PP Arnold has worked with musical legends such as Jagger, the Small Faces, Rod Stewart, Barry Gibb and Eric Clapton, to Nick Drake, Peter Gabriel, Roger Waters, the KLF, Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene and Primal Scream.

Arnold has already been delighting audiences with her extraordinary back catalogues at sell-out concerts all over the country - with long-term admirer and collaborator Paul Weller spotted at her recent gig in London.

She will also be playing tracks from her forthcoming album The New Adventures Of PP Arnold, to be released by earMusic on August 9.

The new double album is produced by longtime collaborator Cradock at his Kundalini Studio in Devon. It features contributions from Weller, The Specials, PP's songwriting son Kodzo and others. This very special evening is set to be an unmissable night of music for anyone with a heart for Britain's rich musical history - expect an evening of stunning soul and jaw-dropping vocals.

Joe Dymond, general manager at The Subs, said: "This brilliant evening is part of a new programme of events for The Sub Rooms.

"We're really excited about welcoming Steve and PP to Stroud and we know their fans are too - half the tickets have already been sold after being on sale for less than a week."

Tickets are £21.50 via the box office on 01453 796880 or online at thesubrooms.co.uk/event/pp-arnold/
