Mitcheldean Festival is back!

After two years' disruption due to Covid, Mitcheldean is busy getting ready for its annual summer party!

The weekend of July 15th - 17th will see the usual fabulous mix of great performances - singing, dancing, poetry and storytelling - plus a full range of family entertainment at the Saturday fete, not to mention the annual Folk Walk. And it's a free event, everyone is welcome!

Local legend Dick Brice will be headlining the concert in the parish church on the Friday evening. On Saturday there will be a young persons' event in the parish church from 12pm to 1.30pm, with recitations from the young poet and storytelling competition winners.

The poetry will continue in Jolter Press Cider House later in the afternoon and will feature some of the best award-winning poets from across the country and beyond. Not to be missed!

As well as the great range of stalls at the fete, there will be a designated family picnic area, refreshments in the community centre organised by the W.I., and a tug of war contest between the White Horse and the Lamb! All this plus an evening concert in the parish church, and dance and song in the community centre.

The fun continues on the Sunday with a music and singing session in the White Horse and, of course, the Folk Walk singing songs around the local countryside (and the country pubs!).

This event is organised by a small group of volunteers, working with Mitcheldean parish council, the parish church, the folk club, Forest Gate Church, the W.I. and other local organisations including the Bespoke Brewery, the White Horse and Lamb pubs and the Jolter Press.

After two years' online, this is the ninth year of a combined fete, poetry, storytelling, music, dance, food and drink festival, the only one of its kind in the Forest of Dean.

See the website http://www.mitcheldeanfestival.fod.uk/  for more details as the plans progress but put 15th - 17th July in your diary - see you there!
