18th October 2017
Where: Museum in the Park, Stratford Park, Stroud
When: Tuesday, October 24, to Sunday, October 29
There's heaps of magical fun going on at the Museum in the Park in Stroud over the half-term holidays.
Youngsters aged five and over can make themselves a magic hat at a drop-in craft session called Magic Hats, Good Luck Charms and Secret Spells.
Children can come dressed as a witch or a wizard and they might like to collect some colourful Autumn leaves from the park and bring them along too. The event runs from Tuesday to Friday, October 24-27, from 11am-3.30pm at a cost of £2 per child.
On Wednesday, October 25, from 2pm-4pm there is a free event called Meet the Curator where visitors can discover some strange and spooky objects from the museum stores! All are welcome.
On Friday, October 27, at 7pm Spaniel in the Works Theatre Company presents Dark Tales of Gloucestershire, their lively, funny performance for all the family based on local folk tales.
Be prepared for drunken fairies, witches, royal intrigue, mythical beasts and more! Performed with music, poetry, puppetry and dance outside in the Museum Courtyard so wrap up warm.
The show lasts one hour and ten minutes and tickets are priced £7 adults, £5 children, family ticket £20. To book your places call 01453 763394.
To wrap up half-term week, on Sunday, October 29, from 11am-8pm the museum is hosting an Apple & Pumpkin Harvest Celebration Day, a late harvest community celebration day in collaboration with Stroud Valleys Project.
Come along with your apples and press your own apple juice (11-12.30pm and 2-3pm). Enjoy delicious apple cake, tea and savouries in the Pop Up Pavilion Café, and admire an exhibition of heritage apples from Day's Cottage Orchard.
Then from 4pm until 5.30pm, enjoy music and mulled apple juice in the courtyard. In the evening at 5.30pm, enjoy the magical pumpkin lantern trail around the Secret Garden.
Also on Sunday afternoon at 3pm there is a haunting tales talk with Fiona Eadie entitled Wise Women and Witches. Spirited, skillful and strong...or warty, wrinkled and wicked?
The talk is for adults as well as for children aged 5+. Tickets are £5 adults, £3 children. Book on 01453 763394.
