Lost Voice Guy comes to National Star

Comedian Lee Ridley, known as Lost Voice Guy, is hosting a comedy, curry and quiz evening at National Star to support young people with complex disabilities.

The event, which is being sponsored by Speller Metcalfe, is being staged at National Star in Ullenwood on 13th July, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £40 and include a meal of Indian street food and have just gone on sale.

Lee is the first stand-up comedian to use a communication aid. As well as being the first comedian to win Britain's Got Talent in 2018, Lee also won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2014 and has appeared on some of the country's most popular TV shows including The One Show, This Morning, Lorraine and BBC Breakfast.

His Radio 4 sitcom, Ability, is now in its fourth season and Lost Voice Guy's Christmas Comedy Club has become a highlight of Christmas Eve on ITV. His debut book, I'm Only In It For The Parking - a humorous autobiographical look at disability and the way we approach it - is published by Penguin.

Lee has travelled the UK extensively with his last two tours (I'm Only In It For The Parking and Cerebral LOL-sy) which led to him winning Ents24 Hardest Working Comedian Award in 2019.

Lee said: "It's always a privilege to visit National Star because it's such a wonderful place that supports so many disabled people and helps them reach the independence they need to live in the real world.

"The role that National Star plays in developing these young people's lives is so important, not just for the young people, but also for society in general. It is vital that disabled people get the same opportunities as everyone else in life."

All proceeds will go to National Star's Building a Brighter Future Development Fund to invest in specialist facilities for young people with complex disabilities.

Fundraising manager Catrin Viveash said: "Thanks to the incredible support of Speller Metcalfe, which is sponsoring this event, we will be able to use every penny we raise to support the charity.

"It promises to be a great evening and we are thrilled that Lee is joining us."

Andy Metcalfe, director at Speller Metcalfe, said: "We are delighted to be part of the team creating the new specialist residence at Ullenwood and very proud to sponsor this event.

"It will be a great team-building event and I hope other local companies will join us to support this incredible charity that we are so fortunate to have on our doorstep."
