Where: The Bacon Theatre, Dean Close School, Cheltenham GL51 6HE
When: Friday, September 27, 7.30pm
One of England's finest singer/songwriters and Gloucestershire's very own Johnny Coppin is reuniting with members of his own band to celebrate a new compilation album '30 Songs'.
There'll be songs covering four decades, from earlier albums like No Going Back, Get Lucky, and Force of the River; songs written in the USA, Bermuda, Cornwall, Wales, Gloucestershire, and Oxford; and many he hasn't sung for years!
Johnny said: "It's really wonderful to team up again with members of my band. Joining me on stage will be Paul Burgess, the multi-talented and Cheltenham-born musician on fiddle, and recorders; Dik Cadbury on guitars and vocals - he's worked with me in Decameron, as well as with Steve Hackett, and Mike D'Abo.
"Then there's the brilliant keyboard player John Broomhall (Kevin Brown, Patsy Gamble); my original drummer Mick Candler (Kevin Brown, Bob Porter Project); and Gareth Sampson on bass guitar."
This concert will feature some songs acoustic, and many with the band, There'll be classics like 'New Day', 'Border County Road', and 'Catherine' (nearly recorded by Cliff Richard), plus singles like 'Believe In You' and 'We Shall Not Pass', both recorded with Anthony Head in 1979, when Johnny was musical director and Anthony played the title role in a production of 'Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat' at The Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham.
Johnny Coppin is singer/songwriter with Decameron, the legendary folk-rock band, and his albums include `Edge of Day` with writer and poet Laurie Lee, 'Borderland' and 'The Gloucestershire Collection'.
He is also the presenter of an Acoustic Music show on BBC radio across the West every Sunday at midnight and on BBC Sounds.
