Hitting the high notes at Taurus Crafts

Where: Taurus Crafts, Forest of Dean, Lydney, GL15 6BU

When: Sunday, June 23, 11am-4pm

The vocal talents of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean will be on display for all to hear at Taurus Crafts' 'Midsummer Song' event on Sunday, June 23.

Now in its third year, the event features a diverse range of local choirs and singing groups. The scene is set to entertain the crowds in style with a covered seating area, local ice creams, chilled prosecco, Pimms, delicious cream teas and a summer barbecue.

Singing on the day will be Chepstow Singing Club, The Chatelaines, Forest Singers, Mathern Ladies Choir, Newnham George Choir, and Springfield Singers.

Joining the established local choirs will be the upcoming singing stars of the future as Lydney C of E School's Glee Club start the event off at 11am performing a range of songs the 7 to 11-year-olds have honed to perfection for the national competition Young Voices.

Visitors keen to test out their own vocal talents can join in one of the free taster workshops. In these sessions, professionals will help you sing effectively and learn techniques to improve your repertoire. No experience is necessary and all are welcome.

Tom Haverly, marketing and events manager at Taurus Crafts, said: "It's great to have a local school here at this year's event. Lydney C of E Glee Club are regulars at our Christmas Markets, they are really popular and always attract a crowd.

"It will be such a nice change for them singing in the midsummer sunshine rather than the midwinter chill."

Entry to Midsummer Song is free and for more information, visit www.tauruscrafts.co.uk
