Historic castle opens for first ever winter season
By Matt Hall | 29th October 2018
Where: Sudeley Castle, near Winchcombe
When: Until 21 December
The clocks have changed, the frost is creeping in and Sudeley Castle & Gardens are usually preparing to close the castle for the winter - but not this year!
This winter, visitors will be able to enjoy the magic of Christmas at the castle all the way up until 21 December.
From 4 November, a new exhibition will open showcasing the great British dinner party. Other events in the run up to Christmas include an array of festive craft workshops and the Royal Sudeley 1000 exhibition.
The series of Christmas workshops include wreath making, seasonal hand lettering, bauble decorating, festive marbling and cracker making. These events are in collaboration with Cheltenham-based Rose and Willow.
Bauble decorating (16 November and 14 December) - Learn how to decorate a set of six Christmas baubles. You will be guided through each step of the way to create your own set of baubles that will make a perfect addition to your Christmas tree, or to give as a beautiful gift.
Seasonal hand lettering (9 November and 7 December) - Try your hand at seasonal hand lettering. This workshop covers all forms of lettering and you will receive your own kit to take home to continue your newly learnt skill.
Cracker making (30 November) - Make your own set of home-made crackers. All materials will be provided, including paper hats and jokes, but please bring your own gifts to personalise your crackers.
Festive marbling (23 November) - Create your own unique wrapping paper and gift-tags using a beautiful marbling technique.
Each workshop will run from 10-11:30 and costs £45, including entry into Sudeley Castle & Gardens and festive refreshments.
