Gloucestershire music charity announces creative industry day

The Music Works will host an action-packed, one-day creative industry event on Thursday, November 11, at their new music venue 'The Hub' in the heart of Gloucester.

The event will give opportunity for local emerging artists, musicians, producers, and other creatives across the county to gain insight into the music industry, career pathways, and develop networks and contacts.

Malaki Patterson, creative director at The Music Works, said: "I think it's so important to highlight events like these as Gloucestershire has a lack of infrastructure to support young people into the creative industries.

"Slowly we are breaking down barriers to help provide progression routes for young people trying to develop creative careers. This event will help bring the music industry to a local level and help inspire the next generation of artists, music managers, booking agents, producers, promoters and more."

The November 11 event will involve the following panels alongside interviews, live music and workshops with an incredible line up of industry professionals from across the music business. Guest speakers include Warner Chappell Music, Ministry of Sound, InMusic, Sheridans, Absolute, Genelec, Focusrite, Defected Records and more.

PANEL 1: Breaking into the industry Experts from key disciplines of the music business sharing insights and experiences on how to break through into the creative industries.

PANEL 2: Building your profile Industry professionals of the music business sharing advice and guidance about building your artist profile.

PANEL 3: Creating a career in music Hear from professional music creators working in the creative industries on how to create a career.

PANEL 4: "What are your next steps?" Local music professionals discussing progression routes and opportunities in Gloucestershire.

Warner Chappell Music is a global music publisher and one of the Hub's many sponsors. Their CEO, Guy Moot, grew up in Gloucestershire and knows first-hand how challenging it is to become involved with music.

He said: "Music should be a route for all young people, and it was really tough for me and others like me at the time [of growing up]. The Music Works' Hub is a game-changer for all the local, undiscovered artists that will now thrive in this space - it will empower them to pursue careers in all areas of music."

The event will take place at The Hub, 2nd Floor, Kings House, Gloucester from 10.30am to 8pm, with drinks and networking from 6pm. There will be opportunity to book specific workshops/product demos on the day.

The Music Works was founded in 2004 and supports over 2,500 children and young people each year; engaging them through music, building confidence, self-belief, and motivation, and empowering them to improve their life chances.
