Festival feel at Taurus Crafts' May Market

Where: Taurus Crafts, Lydney, GL15 6BU

Taurus Crafts' May Market is a chance for foodie families to have a great day out with a festival-feel in the Forest of Dean.

This Sunday's market, with free entry, will include food, drink, activities, music and demonstrations.

The market showcases the best of local food and drink from the region and adds a little more to create a great atmosphere for all visitors.

Alongside the market stalls, and keeping the crowds entertained, will be live music local favourites Banshee ceilidh band. This talented three-piece have been entertaining crowds for years and bring a wealth of experience in traditional folk and contemporary versions using fiddle, guitars, Irish bouzouki, mandolin, flute, button accordion, double bass, banjo, percussion and vocals.

This year's new activity is smoothie making, with Amanda from the Taurus Crafts' Hospitality School. Visitors can choose from a great selection of fresh fruits to create their very own unique flavour combination, then its over to the blenders for a blitz before adding in ice, sorbet and extra treats.

Working with artist Jaymee-Lee, visitors can use fruit and vegetables to make sculptures and crazy creatures for free! 

The Chocolate Bar's chocolatiers will have a dedicated area where visitors can see them demonstrating their skills and then join in the fun in a chocolate-making activity.

Chef Tony Lawton will be demonstrating the 'secrets of the sauces' as he shows the crowds how to make; Provencal, a la greque, ratatouille, and summer feta in a series of timetabled demonstrations in the marquee area.

Traders at the market include: The Billowing Loaf Bakery sourdough breads & pastries; Isabel's Bakehouse sweet and savoury crepes; Miniyaki's Japanese street food; Haven Distillery gin; Kitchen Flowers preserves; McCrindle's cider & perry; Parva spices & sauces; Bespoke Brewery ale and stout; Nurden's fresh fruit & veg and Angiddy Cheese.

There will also be Brookes Dairy ice cream; Mad Mammas Mexican meals; Cottage Sweets marshmallows; Usk River chutney and relish; White Monk fudge; Leena's welsh cakes and waffles; Merryfield honey; The Eco Store re-useables & refillables; VQ country wines and the classic Taurus Crafts BBQ.

Taurus Crafts are proud to be extending their exciting range of vegan food and drinks being served in the Garden Café during the May Market, including treacle tart, raspberry & chocolate slice, ice cream, milk shake, hot chocolate, sausage rolls, hot dogs and cider.
