February fun at Westonbirt Arboretum

Where: Westonbirt Arboretum, near Tetbury

When: Saturday, February 15, to Sunday, February 23

To help keep the Cotswolds entertained in the great outdoors, Westonbirt The National Arboretum is hosting an exciting series of events to keep all ages entertained this February half-term.

The more adventurous visitor can set off on an out-of-this-world adventure! Together with Shaun the Sheep they'll set off on a race against time through the woods on the Farmaggedon Glow Trail to help get Lu-La, a lovable alien who has crash landed in Silk Wood, home.

With Agent Red and her hapless helpers the Hazmats hot on their trail, families will need to find clues in the woods to complete puzzles and challenges on the free app. Once all the challenges are completed Lu-La's communicator will charge and unlock an augmented reality hidden spaceship where families can have their picture taken.

A Shaun the Sheep Farmageddon Glow Trail kit will be available to buy at the Welcome Building for £3.50 and includes a UV pen-torch, Shaun the Sheep ears, a clue sheet, an activity booklet, a sticker sheet and a pencil to make note of your answers! The free clue hunt app will need to be downloaded before arrival.

Or for those who prefer something a little more down-to-earth, why not have a go at some nature-themed arts and crafts from Monday 17 to Friday 21 February? The Westonbirt team will be getting messy making charcoal, creating winter twig shadow drawings and printing with sticks. All family arts and craft events are free after admission to the arboretum.

Even the youngest visitors will be able to join in the fun, with the Birt's I Spy activity book, where you'll be able to join Birt the Woodchipper on an I-Spy Quest around the arboretum.

Paul Cody, head of visitor attraction at Westonbirt, said: "Our team have been working hard to create an exciting range of activities designed to get families out and about into the great outdoors. It's fantastic to see so many families enjoying this beautiful place and enjoying the wonderful trees and plants we have here."
