Fancy having a go at butter churning?

This spring, Broadway Museum & Art Gallery invites you to step back in time and immerse yourself in a hands-on historical experience like no other.

Roll up your sleeves, churn your own butter, and indulge in a rustic 17th-century feast, all set against the backdrop of Broadway's bustling coaching era.

Discover 17th-century Broadway, where weary travellers stopped for rest, refreshment, and a taste of home. Sip like a 1600s local with a tankard of traditional ale, cider, or ginger beer. In an age where ale was safer than water, strong brews like 'Hum Cap' were all the rage, while even children drank 'small beer'—a weaker second fermentation.

Master the art of butter churning, from separating the buttermilk to patting, shaping, and seasoning with traditional Droitwich salt. Take home your handcrafted butter wrapped in eco-friendly packaging.

Enjoy a hearty mid-morning or mid-afternoon meal, featuring either a rich, warming vegetable stew or a traditional ploughman's, served with freshly baked bread and a local ale — perfect for enjoying your very own homemade butter.

With captivating tales of Broadway's stagecoach history, highwaymen and 17th-century life, this experience is more than just a meal — it's a taste of the past, brought to life.
