Exciting first for the Everyman
By David Wood | 19th April 2018
Where: Venues across Gloucestershire
When: Thursday, April 19, to Saturday, April 28
The Everyman Theatre brings a brand-new show to Gloucestershire, starting with a run at their own Studio Theatre in Cheltenham followed by a rural tour.
Watching Out promises lots of laughs and a cracking evening of entertainment.
Watch this and you'll see plenty to be jealous about. Watch this! Watch this! Hector Bouchard is astounded when a strange woman bursts into his elegant Paris apartment, demanding he make love to her - but only when her husband is watching from the adjoining building.
This nineteenth century farce by Georges Feydeau is one of three short plays that make up the Everyman Theatre's professional production of Watching Out.
The others - by John Bassett and Ant Stones - are more contemporary, but all are sharp, funny and follow the theme of watching or being watched.
The show will feature Mark Carey and Dani Carbery (who played Frank and Rita in the Everyman's production of Educating Rita three years ago) and Simon Stanhope (who played Alderman Fitzwarren in last year's panto). It's designed by Corin Hayes and directed by Paul Milton.
And - an exciting first for the Everyman - the play will be filmed and released as a stream for people to view it at any time.
Watching Out is being staged in the Studio Theatre from April 19-21 then touring to:
- Sundial Theatre, Cirencester, Tuesday, April 24
- Tetbury Goods Shed, Wednesday April 25
- Forest Theatre, Coleford, Thursday, April 26
- Edge Village Hall, Friday, April 27
- Westcote Village Hall, Saturday, April 28
