Essential Christmas evening with one of the best
By David Wood | 7th December 2018
Where: Stroud Subscription Rooms
When: Saturday, December 15, 7.30pm
Johnny Coppin, one of England`s finest singer-songwriters, presents a rich mix of carols and songs old and new, together with stories and folklore, at Stroud Subscription Rooms.
For many years Johnny toured as a duo with Phil Beer (Show of Hands). He has recorded more than 12 albums including 'Borderland', `Edge of Day` with writer Laurie Lee, and, in December 2017, a 4th Christmas album All On A Winter's Night.
Playing guitar and piano, his music is essentially British, and always melodic and evocative.
Johnny is joined by Paul Burgess on fiddle and recorders (ex John Kirkpatrick Band), Dik Cadbury on guitars (ex Steve Hackett, Decameron), and Geoff March on cello (ex Decameron) - as well as beautiful seasonal images from Martin Fry.
