Entertainment galore at Christmas markets

Where: Taurus Crafts, Lydney, Forest of Dean, GL15 6BU

When: Saturday and Sunday, December 15-16, 10am-5.30pm

This weekend's Christmas markets at Taurus Crafts sees a spectacular selection of entertainment throughout the creative craft centre.

More than 35 different market traders will be providing festive arts, crafts, gifts, toys, food and drink while the crowds will be entertained by ukuleles, Aylburton School Choir, Rock Choir, clowns, a magician, flautists, a puppeteer, buskers and circus skills.

Tom Haverly, events manager at Taurus Crafts, said: "It's a great entertainment programme this weekend ahead, with the market drawing to a close on Sunday we know the visitors will be kept entertained throughout.

"The Rock Choir alone have over 60 members, so it makes quite an impact when they all sing, and really creates a festive atmosphere.

Centre manager Wendy Firkin added: "We have had a fantastic start to our market weekends with great numbers of visitors and great feedback coming in.

"The Christmas trees from Lydney Park estate are really good quality and selling fast and we are so pleased to see lots of local faces coming back year after to year, and we are still meeting their expectations. Also, the visitors are really enjoying this year's heated marquee!"

On Sunday the choir area hands over the reins to 'Lightly Twned' duo Alastair and Janice who will be running the open mic busking area, providing a great opportunity for musicians and singers to get involved.

"With the potential for thousands of visitors over the weekend this is a great chance for local performers to get noticed, while they keep the crowds entertained."

The markets are open 10am to 5.30pm both days. Entry is free and there is free parking.
