Enjoy the sights and sounds of a bygone era

Where: Toddington Station

When: Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8

The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) is once again holding a diesel running weekend using its magnificent fleet of heritage diesel locomotives dating back to the early 1960s.

Come along and enjoy the sights and sounds of a bygone age with the GWSR's collection of vintage diesel locomotives and come and look around the carriage maintenance facilities at Winchcombe.

With locomotives operating between Toddington and Cheltenham, passengers will be given a 19-mile round trip, which, together with passing trains in the loops at Gotherington and Winchcombe, allows a 45-minute frequency of service along the entire line.

For the haulage enthusiast, this allows a wide variety of 'moves' to be made throughout the day in pursuit of your favourite traction.

For the general visitor and enthusiast alike, come and re-live the atmosphere of travel by British Rail (remember them?) from 30, 40 and 50 years ago as we will be running locomotives in authentic liveries from both the sixties, seventies and eighties!

The GWSR's summer Heritage Diesel Weekend and Open Days have established a reputation for being friendly, quality events and organisers hope this additional diesel running weekend will continue in the same vein.

At Toddington, you will be able to photograph the locomotives in the yard when they are not working trains. At Winchcombe, the popular carriage and wagon workshops will be open for visits so you can view the new facilities for maintaining and overhauling the railway's carriages to a high standard.

For this event, normal ticket prices apply.
