Where: Taurus Crafts, Lydney, Gloucestershire, GL15 6BU
When: Sunday, July 21, 11am - 4pm.
Celebrate the creative talent of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley at Taurus Crafts with their weekend of art showcasing local independent artists and makers.
This specialist market, now in its 3rd year, builds on previous success and features 21 craftspeople with work as diverse as stained glass, weaving, blacksmithing, ceramics, felted artworks, and paintings.
This dynamic market offers visitors the chance to see the talented makers at work and showcasing their processes.
Demonstration highlights include; Nathan Reeks returning to showcase his blacksmithing skills on his forge, local potters Derek Lamb and Mike Collins demonstrating their outstanding skills on the potter's wheel, talented local weaver Rhian Wyman displaying her skills on the loom, and our resident stonemason Caroline Horwood in her studio working on her latest piece of sculpture.
Kicking off the weekend of art there will be an array of exhibitions not to be missed which includes an exhibition celebrating the work of an all female artist collective in the Taurus Crafts Café.
A pop up exhibition from local artist Darren Hoskins' expressive mark making will adorn the walls in the Function Room and photographer Oliver Packer will be displaying his images as part of the market.
Visitor participation is encouraged as local artists will be running drop-in workshops throughout the day from Warren Day and Jayme-lee Cooper, so that any visitors inspired by the art on display at the market can get involved.
The creativity is not limited to the canvas as visitors can listen and watch the vocal talents of local buskers, or even join in if they wish to.
The market complements the talents on display from the resident craftspeople at Taurus Crafts; stone mason, picture framer, leatherworker, glass workers, jewellers, all making in their studios.
With the pop-up art exhibition, demonstrations, live music, BBQ and 13 onsite artisan businesses there is a lot in store at this special venue, and don't forget free entry and free parking.
