Countdown to first ever Gloucester Independent Film Festival

Two local filmmakers, Oscar Wenman-Hyde and Joshy Lee, are at the helm of the first ever Gloucester Independent Film Festival.

The innovative new event takes place at Gloucester Guildhall on Saturday, October 5, and hosts the South West Premiere for The Golden West, which is the latest short film by BAFTA and Academy Award winners Tom Berkeley and Ross White.

Gloucestershire born, Tom Berkeley recently shared his thoughts on the event, saying that it's, "a much needed addition to our city's cultural scene."

The two prestigious directors will be in attendance for a live Q&A, an awards ceremony and red carpet premieres.

In addition to this, the event aims to provide beneficial career progression for those looking to work within the independent film industry and beyond.

Oscar Wenman-Hyde said: "In addition to the programme, we have had nearly 200 submissions for the awards ceremony. These have come from filmmakers all over the world."

Joshy Lee stated that a large amount of the submissions have come from within Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas. The two curators believe this will be a chance to celebrate the community, contribute to the local economy and inspire future artistic projects in our historic city.

Tickets are on sale now but are extremely limited. You can purchase them by visiting the Gloucester Film Festival website or the Gloucester Guildhall website.

The curators of GIFF encourage the Gloucestershire community to immerse themselves in the film industry!
