Cotswold cocktail king is crowned

International Cocktail Day was marked in Cirencester with a competition to see who of the town's bars makes the best summer drink.

Venues Sam & Jak, Téatro and Seventeen Black pitted their mixology skills in front of judges chef and restaurateur Ethan Rodgers from Ivy Lodge Restaurant and Bar of Cirencester Park Polo Club, hospitality pr Jono Rooke, Bathurst Arms director Jordan Pelly and Laurel Simpson of Ingleside.

The idea came from Ingleside and Téatro manager Ryan Walters, who went head-to-head with Sam & Jak's Alex O'Hara and Seventeen Black's senior mixologist and director - Dan Lafford. Ryan was crowned the eventual winner for his creation.

Téatro's Ryan said of his win: "The guys put up a brave fight and the quality of the cocktails was fantastic. Dan's came with smoke and appeared from inside a biscuit tin. Alex created a beautiful basil martini so I was lucky to come out on top."

Ryan's cocktail was a Black Eye, a blend of Wiesse & Krohn port, Woods Navy strength rum, Bumbu original rum, Bennriarch 10-year-old scotch, lime juice and raspberry syrup.
