Concert of well-loved orchestral classics

Where: Ribston Hall High School, Stroud Road, Gloucester

When: Wednesday, June 20, 7.30pm

The Colwell Arts Orchestra, organised by Gloucestershire Music (the music service for Gloucestershire County Council), will be performing a range of well-loved orchestral classics at Ribston Hall High School tomorrow (Wednesday) evening.

Its membership comprises of 65 enthusiastic amateur adult musicians, keen to develop their skills alongside like-minded players within a large, friendly, orchestral setting.

Conducted by Richard Ling, performances on the night will include movements from Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.1, Dvorak's 8th Symphony, Beethoven's 8th Symphony, Mendelssohn's 5th Symphony, Parry's Shulbrede Tunes and The Alchemy of Spring by John Sadler - a contemporary work by their principal cellist.

Entry to the concert will be free and refreshments will be provided during the interval, however voluntary donations to put towards the cost of the concert will be gratefully received at the end of the show.

Cllr Richard Boyles, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "The Colwell Arts Orchestra is an excellent group of amateur musicians and this concert will provide a great night of entertainment for local people."
