Community party to celebrate Holst's 150th

A special party is being held to celebrate the 150th birthday of Cheltenham's most famous son.

The free community event - to mark the 150th anniversary of world famous composer Gustav Holst - will take place in Cheltenham's Imperial Gardens on Saturday, September 21, from 1pm to 6pm.

There will be music on the Mars Stage from 1pm to 6pm, including Cheltenham Philharmonic Orchestra, Cheltenham Silver Band, Nethra Academy of Performing Arts, Cheltenham Improvisers Orchestra, Montpellier Brass Ensemble and Charlton Kings Choral Society.

From 2pm to 5pm there will be all age arts activities in the craft area, while visitors will also be able to enjoy Holst's Spaceship Earth - a multi-sensory, creative technology experience pop up play-lab.

The event is being supported by a number of local bodies, as well as Arts Council England.
