Change of venue for carol concert

Gloucester City Mission's annual Christmas carol concert - which was due to be held at Gloucester Cathedral - is now taking place at St Barnabas Church, Gloucester.

The concert is taking place at the Stroud Road church on Thursday, December 1st at 7.30pm with free admission (retiring collection).

Kevin Howie, general manager of Gloucester City Mission, said there had been a "genuine error" which had led to a double booking at the Cathedral and they had only found out on Wednesday.

He said: "Changing venue with two weeks' notice when you have been advertising it for several months makes life interesting. All is well though and we shall be back in the Cathedral next year as well as being there for several other concerts next year to mark our 20th anniversary.

"St Barnabas is one of the best churches in Gloucester for holding concerts. It can seat more than 300 people and has fantastic acoustics."

Dean Andrew will be attending the carol concert, along with Lord Lieutenant Edward Gillespie.

The evening will feature a superb selection of Christmas carols compered by Warren Moore and featuring Philomusica, Shurdington CofE Primary School plus Kathryn and Tim Jeffree.

The congregation will also be able to find out a little more about Gloucester City Mission's work with the homeless and vulnerable in Gloucester.
