Chance to draw museum artefacts
By David Wood | 16th July 2018
Where: Corinium Museum, Cirencester
When: Monday, July 23, 10am to 1pm
Corinium Museum in Cirencester is making some of its oldest and most stunning artefacts available for handling and drawing.
A three-hour drawing workshop for adults - on Monday, July 23, from 10am till 1pm - will give local artists the opportunity to draw objects from the museum collection.
All are welcome. No previous experience is necessary and gentle guidance will be offered. A range of objects will be made available from earliest prehistory through to medieval periods, via the Romans and Anglo Saxons.
James Harris, collections officer and workshop leader, said: "This is a way for museum visitors to experience the collection in a different way. A lot can be learned about an object during the intimate study that comes from drawing an object."
Alison Goodall, who attended a previous drawing workshop at Corinium Museum, added: "This was a really unique opportunity to handle objects and look at them in a different way. I enjoyed experimenting with different media. It was also good fun meeting other people."
