Chamber orchestra to play at Holst Birthday Concert

Where: St Andrew's Church, Montpellier, Cheltenham

When: Saturday, October 5, 7.30pm

The 2019 Holst Birthday Concert will be a joint event with the Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Timothy Carey.

The soloist will be talented Portuguese viola player Ana Teresa de Braga y Alves.

Cheltenham Chamber Orchestra played at the birthday concert back in 2016 and organisers are looking forward to their return.

A spokesman said: "They are a very prestigious orchestra and we are very lucky that they are playing at this year's concert."

The concert will feature three pieces of music by Holst, two by Vaughan Williams, who was a lifelong friend of Holst, and one piece by Mozart.

Tickets are £16 (children free) and are on sale at the Museum, Cheltenham Tourist Information Centre, the Playhouse Theatre, and online via the Museum website.
