When: Saturday, August 17, 2pm
On Saturday, August 17, at 2pm, just ahead of the thrilling County Cup Final polo game, spectators on the day will be able to watch a Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S 4MATIC+ have an acceleration race against a high-goal polo pony.
The vehicle will be provided and driven by Mercedes-Benz of Cheltenham and Gloucester. The car is a petrol engine, 3,982 cc, 8-cylinder, 510 hp/375 Kw.
The polo pony is owned and will be ridden by Martin Ffrench-Blake of Lipogems Equine. The pony, called Claritta, is a nine-year-old medium to high-goal pony.
Cirencester Park Polo Club is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year and has been holding many added attractions, on top of the exciting polo matches on key event days throughout the year, to celebrate.
On Saturday, August 3, there was an Olympic Dressage Demonstration by Laura Tomlinson.
This forthcoming event day on August 17 will not only see some of the best polo players in the world competing against each other in the County Cup Final, a thrilling spectacle to watch; and the Mercedes Pony Race - there will also be fabulous live music as an after-party in the historic clubhouse bar, run by British Polo Gin, with local band, 'Amaretto Lounge'. The band will start around 5.30pm after the last polo prize-giving presentation.
Gates open at midday for people to settle down with their picnics or in the clubhouse restaurant to enjoy lunch. Entry is just £5 on the gate for picnickers, or £20 for Day Membership Passes, giving access to the restaurant, bar and member's enclosure. The Mercedes Pony Race will be on at 2pm, followed by the County Cup Final at 2.30pm.
You don't have to be a member of the Polo Club to come and enjoy the day - everyone, including children and dogs are very welcome!
Set in the heart of the spectacular Cirencester Park, the breath-taking scenery is the perfect backdrop for a quintessentially British family day out.
