Blues festival set to return to Café René

Blues fans in and around Gloucester are in for a treat when the 19th edition of a popular festival takes place later this month.

Café René in Southgate Street is staging its popular Rhythm & Blues Festival after last year's event was cancelled due to the Covid lockdown.

This year's festival is set to take place from Monday, July 26, to Sunday, August 1, with live music on The Green from Friday to Sunday.

There will be the usual attractions, including the René BBQ, outdoor bar and a special selection of guest ales and delicious ciders.

Café René owner Paul Soden said: "It's taken a lot of soul-searching, some frantic planning sessions, and a drink or two to steel our nerves, but we are excited to announce that we WILL be going ahead with this year's Blues Festival come rain or shine!"

"So keep your eyes peeled for more information and a full line-up to follow soon. In the meantime we've got a lot to do and not long to do it in."
