Berkeley Castle set to re-open on May 17

Berkeley Castle - one of the most remarkable buildings in the country - is re-opening on Monday, May 17, to the delight of its owners.

"We are really looking forward to showing you a warm and safe welcome to the castle every Sunday to Wednesday until the end of October," said Jenny Low, Berkeley Castle's visitor business manager.

The castle has witnessed some fascinating and unusual times during its 850-year history as the Berkeley family home.

And today this history, together with its unique atmosphere, remarkable buildings and beautiful gardens, makes it a truly multi-generational attraction.

So send word to grandparents, other family members and friends who you haven't seen for a while: It's time to visit the castle!

Jenny added: "We have an exciting schedule of events throughout the season, including a brand-new exhibition all about the fascinating Women of Berkeley Castle, a half-term of sword fighting and archery, and our very popular Joust will be back in August.

"During these unusual times, you can rest assured that we have put into place lots of steps to ensure that everyone is kept safe during their visit. And although you might not see it behind their protective masks, our friendly staff will be their usual smiley selves while they help everyone play their part in safe social distancing."

Berkeley Castle is located at Berkeley, Gloucestershire, GL13 9PJ. Tel: 01453 810303. For further information on how to book a ticket or how the castle is keeping its visitors safe, please visit www.berkeley-castle.com . Follow the castle on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
