Attend private viewing of acclaimed photographer at Cheltenham art gallery

Sixteen Gallery in Cheltenham are holding a private viewing of acclaimed war photographer Adam Dobby on September 11th. His first ever solo exhibition, entitled -Created in Conflict- is running from 6-10pm.

Adam Dobby put down a rifle and picked up a camera: these haunting images are the result.

His perspective on war, first as a soldier then as a photographer, has enabled him to tell visual stories in a unique way. He homes in on expressions and faces, and we are able to see into the experience of victims, conscripts, warlords and others caught up in the whirlwind of history.

At a time when we consume thousands of images daily, these pictures arrest the eye. They are documents not only of suffering, but of the strange beauty found in the war-scapes of Africa and the Middle East. They speak of the complexity of conflict, and the connections human beings can make through a single look or gesture.

Framed and limited edition prints are available. A portion of the sales goes to supporting INARA, a charity providing medical support for children injured in conflict, and to the SAS Regimental Association and the Benevolent Fund.

The full exhibition is taking place from September 6th-20th.
