Art exhibition marks group's 10th anniversary

Where: Nature in Art, Wallsworth Centre, Twigworth, Glos

When: Daily until Sunday, September 9, 10am-5pm

Alzheimer's Society Gloucestershire Art Group is currently holding an exhibition to celebrate its 10th anniversary.

'Making Memories' is being staged at Nature in Art at the Wallsworth Centre, off the A38 at Twigworth, Gloucester.

Members of the group are people living with dementia and their carers.

A spokeswoman said: "Art is relaxing, expressive and improves concentration and increasing reports are coming out noting the benefits of art for people with Dementia.

"Each person's hobbies or interests are considered so that they may be helped to choose subjects they enjoy, encouraged to develop their own style and try new things, achieving results that are pleasing...and can sometimes be amazing! As can be seen at this exhibition."

A variety of mediums are taught, including pottery.

The Nature in Art museum will be open and visitors can see museum artists at work. The shop and coffee shop will also be open and there is free parking available.
