Annual Christmas concert at Berkeley Castle

This year, Orchestra Pro Anima's much-loved annual Christmas Concert at Berkeley Castle will take place on Sunday, 12 December, at 6pm.

Now in its nineteenth year, it continues to bring its seasonal magic to delighted audiences.

The concert in Berkeley Castle's magnificent Great Hall will be preceded by a reception from 5pm in the elegant Long Drawing Room where you can enjoy wine, mince pies and other festive fare by the roaring log fire. These refreshments will also be served during the interval.

The castle, which has been a family home for around 900 years, exudes a special atmosphere in the Christmas season. The twinkling lights and Christmas trees add a magical touch to this beautiful historic building.

The programme comprises music from the baroque, classical and romantic periods played by Orchestra Pro Anima, directed by Michael Bochmann MBE.

This year the orchestra will be joined by the outstanding French horn player Stephen Roberts. Composers include Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Borodin and Britten.

The orchestra was launched in January 2017 and is principally formed of musicians who have played together over a long period as members of the English String Orchestra and who have a real affinity with one another, forged over time.

Indeed, they have performed in this marvellous annual Christmas concert since its inception in 2002.

Tickets at £42 (including the reception and interval refreshments) can be purchased from the Roses Theatre Box Office, Tewkesbury on 01684 295074 and online at  https://www.rosestheatre.org/events/entry/orchestra-pro-anima-at-berkeley-castle#.YZ4SStDP15Q
