Where: Taurus Crafts, Lydney, Glos GL15 6BU
When: Until Monday, September 2
The latest exhibition at Taurus Crafts, "Women in Art", celebrates the work of a recently formed all-female artist collective in the Forest of Dean.
The work of Julie Cannon, Lisa Dear, Nicole Iredale, Paula Smith, Sara Ulyatt and Vikki Gibson is on display in the Taurus Crafts café until September 2.
The exhibition features a plethora of landscapes, animals and floral scenes all translated through a diverse range of mediums which includes: watercolours, wool felt, acrylic, digital printing and spray paint.
The six local artists and makers have formed from a chance meeting and now they offer each other a support network to help share, promote, discuss experiences and ideas and, most importantly, friendship.
Paula Smith said: "It is not just about selling artworks; it can be quite isolated out there as an artist, so making new friends who have a similar passion was just as important to forming of the collective. Our friendships and support for one another continues to grow."
Other artworks by the collective can also be seen at The Lyon Inn, in Westbury, events at Taurus Crafts and at their long-term place of residency at Beachenhurst café
A spokesperson for Taurus Crafts said: "It has been great to see the everything the collective have been up to since meeting at the events at Taurus Crafts. More importantly it is great to see women supporting women in this current climate."
So why not see the exhibition, meet the inspirational women behind the artworks during the 'meet the artists' session on 2nd, 16th and 23rd August from 2pm until 4pm and discover more about their work, processes and perhaps buy an original artwork direct from the artist.
