2p entry fee for Lido's opening day
By David Wood | 25th March 2019
Where: Sandford Parks Lido, Cheltenham
When: Saturday, March 30, gates open 11am - 7.30pm
This coming Saturday, Sandford Parks Lido opens its gates for its 85th season and, in keeping with tradition, entry will be 2 pence all day.
This is the modern-day equivalent to what was sixpence entry on the inaugural opening day in 1935.
Again, in keeping with heritage, Cheltenham Silver Band will be playing as customers enter the site.
Both pools will be in use and heated to their usual temperatures. Main pool is 26c and the children's pool is 30c.
From 11am - 3pm, the Cheltenham-based Mini Professors will be in the children's pool area providing fun, water-based science experiments for the younger visitors.
Emma Pursil, author of the forthcoming Lido Guide, will be giving a presentation in the café at 3pm. We will be stocking copies of the Lido Guide from its publication date in June.
Weather permitting, there will be an inflatable slide on the lawn, along with giant lawn games for entertainment.
Cheltenham Swim & Water Polo Club will be providing water polo demonstrations in the deep end throughout the day. Sandford Parks Lido hosts the British Water Polo Championships here in June.
Season tickets are available for purchase via the Sandford Parks Lido website or at reception.
