VIDEO Punchline Talks - Friday Briefing, June 11

Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Friday's national & regional newspapers, discuss what is happening in their own business sector and in their own individual businesses. Finally they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline.

Taking their places on the business briefing panel this week were:

Rachel Geliamassi - managing director at Stagecoach West, with over 1,500 staff and over 500 buses on the roads, it is a big business to keep moving forward.

Peter McCrea - managing director and owner at Production av, the company recently worked with Channel 4 but has seen the hospitality sector close, losing over 80% of its business since the pandemic started.

Nicola Bird - founder of AccXel and safety and business development director at K W Bell Construction Ltd. It is all systems go at the Cinderford site.

Lee Summers - managing director at Elmrep and president of Gloucester Quays Rotary Club. Selling photo copiers is a tough gig to be in when suddenly everyone starts to work from home.

It is a lively informative chat and a blast through the papers before getting behind the nitty gritty of their own businesses and market place. For Rachel in public transport, Peter in entertainment and hospitality and Lee in office photo copying, the pandemic has caused great hardship and upheaval but all three have managed to find a way through it. Only the construction industry has fared well and Nicola explains where they are with the build of the new AccXel centre in Cinderford and the lessons learnt along the way.

The panel fired through lots of subjects, with news and views and there is something to learn for everyone who is interested in business; from the people who are at the sharp end of running their own companies.

It's fun informative business news - something for anyone who is generally interested in business.
