E:94 Punchline Talks! Xmas Special - Reveal TOP stories & top three businesses of the year

Punchline Talks! The Xmas Special - the panel review the Punchline-Gloucester.com stories of 2022. The news stories that really resonated with them, business wise and personally.

There has never been such a crazy year for news. Boris going, Truss arriving, HM The Queen's passing, Truss going, the near financial collapse of the UK economy, Rishi arriving in No.10 our third Prime Minister in under ten months and finally - War in Ukraine and the threat of nuclear war.

Along with all this, we had our counties BiG stories that the panel worked through - no easy task to pick the main story. But which one was it?

Once they cleared the stories - the panel chose their top three businesses of the year.

Starting in third place and working around the group picking out each company and why they had been selected, then they picked out second place etc. and finally - breaking open each panels envelopes they announced the WINNERS of their choice for BUSINESS of THE YEAR.

It is a great panel - that is picked to cover and represent the different sections of Gloucestershire's business community: hospitality, manufacturing, engineering, small businesses, SMEs and finally the third sector /charities.

A huge thank you to Hazlewoods - Accountants and Business Advisers for sponsoring the shows - it has been fantastic to work with them.

This week's panel is the same as last week, E:93 and funnily enough the costumes are the same...

  • Neill Ricketts - CEO of Versarian plc, the graphene engineering company.
  • Alex Cottrell - manager of the Gloucester Growth Hub.
  • Sam Holliday - business development manager for Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
  • Ian Mean MBE - director of Business West and ex-editor of Citizen/Echo/Western Daily Press.
  • Laurie Bell - CEO of The Cheltenham Trust.
  • Talitha Nelson - CEO of Community Foundation Trust.

A big thanks to all the panel and guests this year from the Punchline team and the host of Punchline Talks! - editor Mark Owen.
