By Mark Owen | 23rd August 2024
Each Friday, Punchline-Gloucester.com editor Mark Owen is joined by leading Gloucestershire business figures from a range of backgrounds to review Fridays national & regional newspapers, discuss what is happening in their own business sector and in their own individual businesses.
Finally, they round off by picking the stories that have caught their eye in this week's Punchline-Gloucester.com.
The Business Breakfast Briefer show is sponsored by Hazlewoods Accountants and Business Advisors.
This week's panel of experts were:
Mark Cummings - ex BBC Radio Gloucestershire breakfast presenter. He's been a journalist, presenter, reporter, quiz master - he's Yorkshireman, a lover of the county and now he's an author - his first book has just come out 'GLORIOUS GLOUCESTERSHIRE' - so we'll find all about that and how difficult is it to get a book off the ground.
Richard East - founder and CEO of RE Recruitment - Richard started the company in 2001 it now has six offices, 85 staff and a turnover of £50million - so we'll find out more about the company, but also the current job market - especially here in Gloucestershire. What is really going on - and which type of jobs seems to be in high demand.
Simon Evans - founder & CEO of Clear Future Financial Planners based at Westend Business Park in Stonehouse - he started the business three years ago, they are completely independent financial advisers - and as you reach my age, which is 60 next month - they become much more interesting. So, we'll find out a bit more about the business, also are more business owners looking to sell up and get out of dodge? Top three tips to retiring.
Vikki Walters - strategic lead for Inclusive Employment at Gloucestershire County Council - based at the cities employment skills hub and we find out about the 'Work Well' project, what is it and who is it aimed at. Our editor voted her most popular and nicest person to share a bottle of wine with in 2022/2023.
Another jam packed show as always - also covering: Jermaine Jenas, potholes, storms on the horizon, civil service pay rises, illegal immigration, North Korea holiday hotspot, economic growth, GCSE results, St. Michaels Tower, The Civic Trust, Poultry Visa's, skills and apprenticeships, this is another great show that covers so much more.
