Your chance to quiz the Police and Crime Commissioner

Gloucestershire's Police and Crime Commissioner is going on the road this summer to meet members of the public.

Martin Surl and his deputy Chris Brierley will be visiting 10 communities in all six districts of the county starting on Monday July 23.

During the ten-day tour the public will get the opportunity to discuss a variety of crime and police issues.

Recent changes to neighbourhood policing, how effective they have been and a potential rise in next year's policing levy will be among the main talking points.

Members of the public will be able to meet local officers, have one-to-one conversations with the PCC and his deputy and complete a survey on how their neighbourhood is policed.

Mr Surl said, "The impact of Government funding cuts to the tune of £30m since 2010 has been noticeable on the frontline, particularly within local communities.

"When I stood for re-election in 2016, one of my top manifesto pledges was around the future of neighbourhood policing. So when I was re-elected, I asked the Chief Constable to develop a new approach which was launched in January.

"As part of my responsibility for holding the Constabulary to account, I am spending some time out and about within the county, meeting with residents and key community members to ask for their views and thoughts on policing in our county".

Surgeries will be held from 4-7 pm in the following locations:

• 23 July - Cirencester, Brewery Courtyard

• 24 July - Stroud Town Centre, King Street

• 25 July - Lydney, Newerne Street Car Park

• 26 July - Moreton-in-Marsh, High Street

• 27 July - Gloucester Docks, Mariners Square

• 30 July - Bishops Cleeve, Parish Council car park

• 31 July - Dursley, opposite Sainsburys

• 1 Aug - Cheltenham, outside Marks & Spencer

• 2 Aug - Newent, Market Place

• 3 Aug - Tewkesbury, Priors Park
