Work has begun on transforming part of the BHS site in Regent Arcade into a luxury boutique cinema.
Internal hoardings have been put in place around the site close to the Regent Street entrance to the arcade as work begins on the 22,000 square foot multi-million pound Tivoli Cinema.
Plans for the Tivoli cinema were approved in October 2018 and will see four screens, a VIP director's lounge, luxury bar and lounge area built.
It will be the second Tivoli development in the country, following on from the successful launch in Bath last year.
Work is expected to take place throughout the winter with an opening pencilled in for 2020.
Neil Goulding, facilities and construction director for Tivoli Cinemas Group said: : "We are delighted to bring our second TIVOLI venue to Cheltenham following the successful launch of TIVOLI Bath late last year.
"The response to the Bath cinema far exceeded our expectations and we are sure the people of Cheltenham will be just as excited to see what Tivoli has to offer."
The cinema development is part of an overhaul of the southern part of the Regent Arcade that will see cafes, bars and a rooftop restaurant added to the centre.
Centre manager for Regent Arcade, Scott Lahive said: "It's great to have good news to talk about!
"We've been working closely with the cinema owners to make sure the plans for the development meet all of their requirements.
"We're ready to go now and can't wait to give the town such a special cinema environment."
