Work underway on long-awaited GP surgery

Work on a new doctors' surgery in Stow-on-the-Wold is now underway.
Cotswold District Council's Planning Committee approved the application for a new state-of-the-art surgery in July 2015, amid concerns that the current premises in Well Lane no longer met modern healthcare standards. But there were delays along the way while funds were secured to make a start on the project.
CDC Leader, Mark Annett (pictured), said: "I am really pleased that this project has finally got underway, and I hope it continues to fruition at a good pace. The people of Stow can look forward to the modern facilities they deserve.
"Living in the North Cotswolds, and having attended the last public meeting in Stow on this issue, I am aware of the level of public feeling and local support for a new surgery. Delays are frustrating - and the district council can only do so much - but it is great to know that progress is now being made. Well done to everyone for making this happen."
The new surgery will include seven GP consulting rooms, four nurse consulting rooms and provision for minor operations. It is expected that the building will be available for use towards the end of 2018.
