Woman suffers "avoidable harm" at Cheltenham care home, court hears

The owners of a Cheltenham care home which has now closed have pleaded guilty to failing to provide adequate care and treatment to one of their residents.

At Cheltenham Magistrates Court yesterday Lifeways Community Care Limited admitted the offence, committed at Alstone House, Alstone lane, Cheltenham on March 9, 2017.

The victim - Laura Murray - suffered "avoidable harm" as a result of the care home's failure, the court heard.

Alstone House was required to provide accommodation for those requiring nursing or personal care.

The offence is in breach of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 and carries an unlimited fine.

District Judge Joti Bopa-Rai adjourned the case until April 15, 2020 when a victim's impact statement will be read out in open court and the ocmpany will be sentenced.
