Witnesses sought after serious assault

A man suffered serious injuries when he was assaulted outside a Forest of Dean business earlier this month - and police are appealing for witnesses.

At about 5.30pm on Thursday, October 4, the 40-year-old man became involved in an argument with two younger men outside Select and Save in Bailey Hill, Yorkley.

A fourth man then arrived in a black car and assaulted the 40-year-old with a weapon described as a 'truncheon'.

The injured man sought medical help the following day and received treatment for injuries to his head, back and groin area.

The incident was reported to Gloucestershire Constabulary on Monday, October 8.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information which would help officers with their enquiries is asked to call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting incident 206 of October 8.
