Willans leads charity search for talented pets

Pet owners are being invited to showcase their furry friends' hidden talents to find Gloucestershire's most talented animals in aid of Cheltenham Animal Shelter.

The shelter has teamed up with Cheltenham law firm WIllans LLP to launch My Pet's Got talent for animals of all shapes, sizes and species.

To enter, send a video of less than a minute highlighting your pets talent with a caption describing their talent to gawa.org.uk/mpgt.

Entries, which cost £3, will close at noon on March 3 with all proceeds going to the animal shelter, which rehouses around 650 abandoned animals each year.

General manager Peter Newcombe said: "We are delighted Willans have chosen us as their charity partner through these challenging times, particularly as their team have shown a real passion to support the work we do.

"The My Pet's Got Talent competition is a fun and light-hearted way for supporters to show off their pets while raising funds for the shelter."

Judges will consider the entries based on creativity, level of difficulty and star quality to draw up a shortlist in three categories - dogs, cats and other pets - which will be put to a public vote from March 5-15.

Winners will be announced on March 17 and receive a pet-friendly prize.

Willans charity committee member Emma Thompson said: "We're so pleased to be partnering with Cheltenham Animal Shelter - our current charity of the year as chosen collectively by staff.

"The charity sector has taken a big hit from Covid-19 and it has never been more important for people to dig deep when they can.

"We've seen first hand the incredible work that the shelter does, every entry will make a real difference. We can't wait to see the entries and the incredible range of talents."

My Pet's Got Talent is one of a range of initiatives Willans is working on to support the shelter with a make a will campaign and other online fundraisers in the pipeline with staff volunteering at the shelter when restrictions allow.
