Wickes going it alone after demerger

Home improvement supplier Wickes will stand on its own after it completed its move away from Travis Perkins.

The company's demerger, first announced in 2018 but delayed during the coronavirus pandemic, was completed following a vote by Travis Perkins.

Wickes chief executive David Wood said: "Today marks a transformational moment for Wickes as we begin our journey as a standalone business.

"I am delighted with our performance in the last year. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their hard work, dedication and focus on delivering for our customers during such challenging times.

"We are well positioned to capitalise on the exciting growth opportunities we see in our markets while creating long-term value for all our stakeholders."

Last month, Travis Perkins chief executive Nick Roberts said Wickes "is in great shape to embark on its journey as a standalone entity".
