What's On: Gloucester Rhythm and Blues Festival brings free live music to the city

International Blues artists are arriving in Gloucester this weekend for the annual Rhythm and Blues Festival.

There are 70 live performances planned across the city's pubs and live music venues over nine days.

The free festival features gigs at Café Rene, Angie's Bar, The Cross Keys Inn, The Dick Whittington, The Fountain Inn, Gloucester Brewery, The New Inn, The Old Bell, Pepper's Café, The Tall Ship and Tank.

The live music kicks off on Saturday night with Luke Philbrick & Damon T at The Fountain at 7pm, Mat Watlake and Paolo Fuschi at Gloucester Brewery at 7.30pm, Hard Stairs Blues Band at Tall Ship at 8.45pm, Gallon Proof at Dick Whittington at 9pm and Blue Street at Cross Keys Inn at 9pm.

On Sunday, artists performing from 1pm include James Oliver & Lee McRory, Mark Walby, Kris Dollimore, Swamp Stomp Swing Band, Mike Dobie, Harpin' on Blues and Leon Daye.

The festival, part of Gloucester Summer of Music, Arts and Culture, runs until next Sunday.

There is free admission to all concerts.
