Cheltenham nightlife has suffered a blow with the sudden closure of a popular town centre bar.

Known for its authentic German steins, tasty food and dancing on benches, Bierkeller, posted to its social media channels to break the bad news to its customers.

Opening in May 2016, the venue hosted some of the biggest parties as well as its renowned quiz night, with hosts Quizmaster Gaz and DJ Nick, which entertained thousands of guests over the years.

The post said that all good parties come to an end' and went on to thank all 'staff, security, entertainment teams and of course, all the customers' as well as hinting that something new and exciting is coming soon.

The closure comes as a surprise after a highly profitable Cheltenham Festival 2018 boosted the town's economy to record levels.

Here at Punchline we are saddened by the loss of an establishment so pivotal to Cheltenham's nightlife economy but hope that the replacement venue will be just as exciting.
