We have turned the corner says Bovis boss
15th January 2018
The new head of Bovis Homes says there has been a step change in the quality of homes it is providing.
Bovis, which has a regional centre in Bishop's Cleeve, had faced criticism from customers over problems involving some of its newly finished homes.
But in a trading update, Bovis Homes chief executive Greg Fitzgerald who took over last April, said the group had made excellent progress.
He said the company had completed 3,645 homes in 2017 (2016:3,977) in a controlled and disciplined manner. Average overall selling price increased by seven per cent to £272,000.
Mr Fitzgerald said: "The group had a very disciplined year end and delivered against all of its financial and operational targets for 2017. There has been a step change in the quality of our homes delivered on completion and I'm pleased to see this reflected in our level of customer satisfaction which continues to improve.
"We've made excellent progress with our balance sheet restructuring resulting in a year end cash position significantly ahead of expectations. Our forward order position is strong, and with robust industry fundamentals, we expect the group to deliver a significant improvement in profitability in 2018."
