Highways crews will be in Coleford at the B4028 Gloucester Road doing vital resurfacing work as part of Gloucestershire County Council's £150 million investment into the county's highways.

The council's continued commitment to improving Gloucestershire's roads means the B4028 in Coleford in the Forest of Dean will be resurfaced due to it reaching the end of its life expectancy. The stretch of road between Bakers Hill and the B4228 will be resurfaced from Monday 2nd July, finishing on Wednesday 11th of July (excluding weekends).

A 652m length of road will be worked on and highways crews will be dealing with 754 tonnes of material. To minimise disruption, all works will be undertaken during off-peak hours from 9:30am to 3:30pm. The road will be fully closed during this time and no through traffic will be allowed access.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "This important scheme highlights our ongoing commitment to keep the county moving and these essential improvements will create a smooth and pothole free journey for all road users. I would like to reassure residents that we will keep disruption to a minimum and we'd like to thank them for bearing with us."

Cllr Carole Allaway Martin, local county councillor for Coleford said: "This is an important route in Coleford and the resurfacing will have a significant benefit to local residents. The carriageway has been slowly deteriorating so these vital improvements will help make the journey smoother for everyone."

What's the diversion route?

Follow the B4228 (Staunton Road) to the junction with the A4136 then turn right. Continue along the A4136 to Five Acres and at the junction with the B4432 (Woodgate Road) turn right. Take the B4432 and follow the road to the junction with the B4226 (Poolway Road), at the junction turn right. The diversion is the same in reverse.
