Warning - popular commuter route to be closed
13th October 2017
Resurfacing work on Down Hatherley Lane, Gloucester, will close the popular commuter route for four days during daytime hours next week.
Work will take place from Wednesday, October 18, to Saturday, October 21, from the B4063 junction on Down Hatherley Lane to Park Farm Lane.
Gloucestershire County Council says the road has reached the end of its life expectancy and is being resurfaced as part of the council's £150 million upgrade of Gloucestershire's highways.
It is narrow in parts and is a well-used 'cut through' route linking the A38 with the B4063, and the resurfacing will help make driving safe and reduce potholes.
So that the work can go ahead, the road will be closed from October 18-21 between 8am-5.30pm each day.
A diversion route is planned to be as short as possible, and will be signposted via Frogfurlong Lane and Innsworth Lane.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: "We have scheduled this route for resurfacing as part of the county's ongoing programme of improvements. Keeping the county moving continues to be a priority."
