WARNING: One lane to temporarily close on the A40 Golden Valley
By Matt Hall | 23rd March 2018
Gloucestershire County Council is improving the road signage along the popular commuter route next week.
The work is due to start on Monday 26th March for five days. So that the work can be carried out safely, one lane of the A40 will be closed going towards Cheltenham from Gloucester, east of the M5 towards Arle Court.
The closure will take place on weekdays only. Starting at 9.30am on Monday 26th March, crews will work during the off-peak hours between 9.30am and 3pm until Tuesday 3rd April.
During this time one lane will still remain open for traffic. On the bank holiday weekend all lanes will be open as usual.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: "The A40 Golden Valley Bypass is a busy dual carriageway and next week we're going to upgrade its road signs.
"To keep any disruption to a minimum, we're going to do the work after the morning rush hour and before the busy afternoon commute; you may still like to allow more time for your journey."
"Thank you for your patience while we make these improvements."
The council is investing £150 million into county roads over the next four years.
